The Mayan and The Skull

Skulls are an important motif in Mesoamerican iconography. In the Mayan tradition the symbol of the skull was linked to the human mind, to human intelligence and knowledge.
Rather than the heart, the brain was considered the centre of a human being and the skull was a symbol of the entity of a person.

The Mitchell-Hedges quartz crystal skull is a magnificently sophisticated bit of masterful art and it has nothing at all to do with death or mortality in the eyes of its original makers: it was believed to be a godhead-symbol of knowledge and wisdom.

F.A. & Anna Mitchell-Hedges

Our adventure starts in the last century, with the discovery of Crystal Skull.
F.A. Mitchell-Hedges and his adoptive daughter Anna lead us with their incredible lives to discover this amazing mystery!

Present

The Crystal Skull

It is the most mysterious and fascinating archaeological artifact: there are a number of known crystal skulls in existence, but of these the Mitchell-Hedges skull is unique in its extraordinary craftsmanship. It has been studied by both scientists and physicists with no conclusive proof as to how old it is or even how it could possibly have been crafted from a single large crystal.

Journeys with the Crystal Skull

The Mitchell-Hedges crystal skull has toured a lot. Its caretaker has walked all around the world to spread the crystal skull message.

"When I saw the crystal skull for the first time in 1981 it felt like meeting with an old friend. There was a feeling of respect, connection and communication with it. I felt compelled to work with it."
