THIRTEEN MOONS CALENDAR

The Mayan holy calendar, formerly known as Thirteen Moons Calendar, measures time mixing cycles of sun and moon. Base concepts are lunation, tides and human biorhythms, similar to female cyclicity. The concept-number is 28. Dividing solar year by 28 we obtain 13: just like lunation in a solar year. A day stays out of this computation: this day is called "the day out of time"; it is Mayan New Year's Day and it corresponds to our July, 25.
Mayan calendar also integrates many "twin" aspects, like Sun and Moon: they represents male and female concepts.

GREGORIAN CALENDAR

Gregorian Calendar is the official calendar worldwide. It was introducted in late '500, thanks to Pope Gregorio XIII. Gregorian Calendar starts from birth of Jesus (approximately 753 years after foundation of Rome), and it was a modification of the Julian Calendar previously in use. For this reason, it did not cause interruption in the years count.
Gregorian Calendar is a solar calendar: it's based on cycle of season; it's formed by 12 month, it has 365 days...and something more. Every 4 years we accumulate an amount of time corresponding to a day; we call this year "leap year" and we add the day to February, the only month which has 28 day or 29 days during leap years.
